Nothing can bring elegance and beauty to a piece of furniture like a practiced eye and disciplined craftsmanship. After many years of honing my skills, simplicity and elegance become an obvious statement in every piece of furniture I build. I wondered often in my early years in the trade why it was so difficult to design something as a statement in simplicity and I believe I have finally answered the question. A piece of furniture in its simplest form exposes both the symmetry and asymmetry of the design and if they are not balanced even the unpracticed eye can see it completely. Most people can’t tell you why a piece of furniture has appeal or desirability but they can tell you why or how it doesn’t. One look at my work and my designs says all that is necessary to say. You may be able to get a computer or a machine to do the same joinery I do but a computer can’t see what time has taught me to see and what disciplined craftsmanship have taught to create. I will bring this same commitment and maturity to any piece of furniture I build. I can’t help it, it's deeply ingrained in me and I love what I do. You will too, I guarantee it! I always approach my work with a passion and love for the craft. I look forward to applying my artistic expressions to your needs. Thank You, Paul Baines Paul Baines has recently moved back to Maine after a ten year sojourn which took him to such places as the Rosebud Indian Reservation teaching timber framing and hand crafting a Greene & Greene style timber frame home on a lakeshore in Minnesota. Paul’s work has won awards in the Minnesota Woodworkers' Guild shows, as well as recognition in the Architectural Record for his work on The Rosebud Indian Reservation.
